About VALSD

Our members consist of professional men and women providing recreational and social programs at senior community mobile home parks, senior apartments, retirement communities, homeowner associations, RV resorts, and municipal senior centers in Arizona's beautiful Valley of the Sun.  

Formed to promote the professional growth of members, our organization provides a forum for ideas and information and serves as a liaison between the association members, the community and the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association (APRA).

As Activities Directors our members strive to provide a varied program of events and classes for their community, ranging in size from a hundred to over 4,000 residents.  This includes contracting stage and musical entertainment, locating instructors for classes, recruiting and working with volunteers, and overseeing staff. 

Our monthly meetings provide our members an opportunity to network, hear guest speakers, and discover new ways to serve the community for which they work. Attendance at these meetings is restricted to member Activity Director only.
